If you live in a Super Tuesday state and haven't already voted: please don't forget to go and vote!

For the first time since I started voting at age 18, I might cast a presidential ballot that counts -- assuming that the Democratic party primaries go as expected today. I might have to choose between Hillary and Obama. Since neither lines up more directly than the other with my politics, I'll probably end up choosing based solely on electability.

Houstonians! Don't forget to vote today!

I was lucky to find [livejournal.com profile] awmpdotnet when I first cracked open Photoshop. I really loved going through her tutorials -- and her Pop Art series is sheer brilliance. I love the color, the striking visuals, and my very first icons didn't look like they'd been made by that hopeless noob that I was. Alas, as much fun as I had with it, I soon realized that Pop Art isn't popular and I moved towards more realistic and grungy icons. (Not to mention, Pop Art takes me FOREVER to make a single icon. I'm already slow but it cuts my productivity by at least 2/3.)

One of the challenges I watch each week is having a Pop Art contest this time around and I've had a lot of fun making collages, using shocking colors that I'd eschewed, and generally getting in touch with my inner Love Child. :) They won't get a lot of love when it's time to publish eventually, but they'll probably be the ones that gave me the most pleasure to make.

It's off to the airport for me after work today! This is my final obnoxious "I'm so excited and it's going to be so much fun" post; hopefully to be followed in a week by obnoxious "that was even better than I'd hoped" posts. Consider yourselves warned and configure those filters appropriately. ;-)

I'll miss my f-list something fierce -- I think I'm addicted to y'all. I'm not going to quote Brokeback Mountain here re: quitting you, but it's only because I'm a bit hyper this morning and I know that's really annoying on a Monday.

SERIOUS BUSINESS for those in the U.S.: Please, please, please vote in the next election. Election Day is Tuesday, November 7. I will get home just in time to vote and probably will forget to exhort you to go vote.

I fail to understand this willingness to not vote that the majority of our country feels. Every election is crucial but this one could be about restoring checks and balances to our government. This is about saying no to torturing prisoners. This is about not being evil.

Hey, Frodo lost a finger to destroy the Ring; all you have to do is touch a screen -- and you get to keep the finger.

I know I have some non-liberals on my f-list (shocking!). I'm urging you to vote, too, though I'm obviously hoping my viewpoint prevails. Never, ever give up your right to vote. For so much of our history, having the temerity to show up and vote could get you arrested (women) or, worse, killed (minority men). Please don't throw away the opportunity that people died to secure for you.

*Wonder if I have any Arlo Guthrie on my iPod...

Good morning, Texans. Today is the run-off election from the primaries. If you didn't vote in the primaries (shame on you!), you can still vote in one party's run-off. If you voted in the primaries, you can vote in the same party's run-offs.

I'm glad the Democrats are working to oust our erstwhile "Repug in Democrat clothing" state rep. But really? Daily calls only make me cranky.
