TV Meme: Day 2
Day 01 - A show that should never have been canceled: Firefly
Day 02 - A show that you wish more people were watching:

I have no idea what the ratings are for various shows. I'm assuming that In Plain Sight must have had some issues because they've "re-vamped" the program and now it feels more pedestrian.

The focus on Mary's family life with her mother and sister is being downplayed/eliminated and I'm sorry for it. Yes, at times it was overdone but it was wonderful to have a show that revolved around three flawed but strong women. Sadly, the show's no longer centered around women talking to women about something other than men and recurring characters of color are being eliminated/sidelined. I still enjoy the show because Mary is a kick ass character whom I enjoy watching, the interaction with her partner Marshal Marshall Mann is always a winner, and I'm happy to see Paul Ben-Victor (Invisible Man). It just isn't the same.

I swear, the only time a show has freer license to be itself is when it's on a pay channel like Showtime or HBO.

Sadly true. Double sad since I no longer pay for those channels.

That's what torrents are for. *gg*

I'm clearly going to have to learn about torrents. I've been so analog in my digital life.

LOL!

If it weren't for torrents, most of my videos and music would be gone, and half my software would be missing. When I had a job, I had no problem paying for stuff. But until I get some sort of income going again, torrents will continue to be my mainstay.

Now that I'm essentially in that same boat, I'll be looking into more torrents. I've always waited for the DVDs and been a paying fan since I could and I wanted to support the industry but they really kind of cheesed me off by taking so long to release True Blood S2. I'm willing to wait until the season ends but waiting until the new season was ready to start was ridiculous.

When you're ready to d/l, I suggest the client, uTorrent. I've been using it for a few years and it's very good.

Also, bookmark EZTV. They have the largest compendium of TV show downloads and I use it for all my TV d/l. Am currently d/l the premiere of Penn and Teller's Bullshit 8th season to see what they're going to bitch about this season. ;)

Oh man - thank you! I've been somewhat hesitant given all the stories of viruses via torrents that used to swirl around years ago. I'll go off and check this out now! You always know the best links. *HUGS*

You're welcome! *hugs*

When it comes to viruses, they *are* out there, but any torrent worth a damn will have user comments that will give clues. Rule of thumb, always check the files, even if they're rar'd. If there are any files without extensions that have no explanation *why* they have no extension, delete the d/l.

Some uploaders are known to have clean and easy installation uploads, and the giveaway is a massive amount of thank yous, as well as having a VIP or busy site profile.

If you'd like some newish software, here's a user at a d/l site who's extremely reliable. :) The site also has other useful stuff I've found over the years. :)

I'm going to need a crib sheet but I suppose this will seem common-sensical once I've tried it.

Yeah, it's a little daunting, but it's easy. Once you know the few things you need to, observation will take care of the rest. *g* Feel free to shoot me an email. Or keep commenting here, too. ;)

PS -- KickAss Torrents is a very good place to start, too. Hell, they even have a facebook page. ;)
