I saw a few episodes and thought it was cool. too bad the series was short lived. I believe that there was an anime series that also came out. NY understanding is that the star had problems with alcoholism that eventual negatively impacted the show. Sad that.
It was a very cool show the first season though I'll admit to thinking the second season sucked. It had a lot of cool visuals and an interesting premise. It had eye candy for those who like men and for those who like women. it had violence, friendship, enemies, secret agendas, immortals (sort of), and reincarnation.
They had to halt filming during the second season while Yancy was in rehab. I don't think any show can survive that, sadly, but the second season was so bad that I didn't hate its cancellation as much as I thought I would.
Isn't it? I've owned DVDs made from video casette recordings for a couple of years but I've always wanted an official release. I'm really excited it's finally going to happen. :)

Yup. :) The second season is detritus to me but I'm happy they've thrown it in with the purchase of Season One. That way, I don't have to argue with myself over whether it's worth it to purchase it because I'm slightly OCD and want to own an entire series.
What took them so long, anyway? I was into Witchblade for a while (in a non-interactive way, since I didn't get involved in fandom until a few years ago). I'll probably get the DVDs, even though it was one of those series where I liked the idea more than the execution. It's been so long since I've seen the show that I'm curious to find out how it strikes me now. And there were some episodes I missed.
Stupidity? Amazon had so many requests for the DVDs that they formed a "notify me when the DVDs become available" list that one could sign up for. That's why I know it has been announced. :) I sign up, oh, probably 4 years ago.
The concept was way cool and I thought the first season made a good stab at filling in the story. Not perfect but not bad. The second season sucked rotten eggs. I would be hard pressed to convince myself to buy the second season if it weren't in the $5 clearance bin, but since they're gamely adding it to the first as part of a "buy the whole series" release, I'm happy to accept it.
I'm interested to see how they hold up. We got out the Asian VCDs of the pilot movie not too long ago and watched them. I was surprised at how much I still liked it. :)
I was very sad about it although I have to admit that the second season was pretty terrible. The only good thing about it was they reanimated Will Yun Lee. I maintained the hope that they'd rediscover their glory in a third season but I'm glad we didn't have a third season like the second.
I'm VERY happy they're finally releasing it, though!
