Is anyone interested in a LIMS contest for SG-1?  
ETA: [livejournal.com profile] sg1_lims -- We now have enough votes to say that yes, we'll be having a LIMS!! If you wish to participate and haven't answered the poll, please fill out the poll so that I know to track you down and let you know when we're ready to open the community. We're collecting caps, organizing themes, and setting up the community right now!

Is there interest among icon makers for a LIMS contest for SG-1? [livejournal.com profile] lantis_lims is a well-run community and I enjoyed participating; I'd really like to see something like it for SG-1.

I used to think LIMS was ego-destroying with its eliminations and reasons for voting, but I found that knowing I'd get feedback spurred me to try new techniques and take risks. It was immensely helpful to me as an icon maker to receive comments, both positive *and* critical.

I've wished there were a similar community for SG-1 for a while. So, is there interest? I'd be willing to mod but I'd like to have either co-mods or, as the lantis_lims has, a bunch of volunteers to help. And, of course, I would like to have participants!

I'm sure there are lots of things I don't know about running a comm such as this; I've never done it. If you have any helpful suggestions or ideas, I'd love to hear them.

Also? Please pimp this poll. I would like to reach the widest range of SG-1 fans possible. Thank you. :)

I love the way that comm is run and I loved the caps chosen but I'm with you, SG-1 is my True Love. It's a commitment of time and if I were to do it again, I'd want to spend that kind of time with my first love. :)

(p.s. This is totally off subject but many moons ago you expressed interest in seeing Lucy. She's in Houston through the end of this month, 26 April. If you're still interested, let me know when you might be here. I'd love to meet you and because I'm a museum member I can get the tickets far cheaper.)

That is because I am the capping master...heh....

I interviewed with a lady who owns a horse farm...I'd be working with horses again,my first passion...*g*..she wants me to work with her a couple of days next week to see how I handle myself and the horses(mostly broodmares and foals)...no sweat for me, so I just have to do my best and keep my fingers crossed that she likes how I work.

I'd love to come over that way to see Lucy but with me being out of work the past two weeks money is kinda tight right now...drat

Indeed you are. I tend to pick out the same sort of screencap over and over and over so I would really, really love to have your eye involved in picking good screencaps.

I've never worked with horses but animals have been my passion since I was old enough to interact with them. I've always thought that I would like horses but as a kid my only time spent with them was horseback riding.

Ugh. Money sucks when it's tight, doesn't it? If things change and you *do* come to Houston, please let me know. Lucy is supposed to be traveling for six years (!!!) so this won't be the only opportunity to see her.

I'm working ahead here because I don't yet have enough responses to commit to running a LIMS but I thought I'd put more thought into this in a fit of positive thinking.

You offered to supply me with caps. I don't know how your schedule is, so I didn't know if what you wanted to do was pick out a bunch of your favorites and upload them to my server or if you wanted to spend more time and collaborate on themes and specific choice of caps for each challenge. Or if you were thinking of something else I haven't thought of.

Let me know what would work for you, please, and we can start talking caps when you have the time. :)

we can work on themes and such...cause if I picked my favorites they would be kinda biased...*g*...right now I'm not working so I have the time to email back and forth(this may change soon though)...or we can talk on AIM..since I have AOL....let me know when a good time would be to chat and we'll set up something...I already have a huge collection of caps but can also make more if need be since I have all the seasons now.
