Loves 4,5 and 9. Mmm, icons...

Oh, and congrats on winning the Teryl Rothery/Terylicious grand prize! :D

Thank you! I couldn't decide how to celebrate. Announcing it seemed like bragging. Some people win so many awards they have a whole post where they stash their accolades but it seemed silly to make such a fuss for my lovely but lonely singular banner. It finally occurred to me that people include graphics on their user info so I stashed it there. :) Winning was a complete surprise to me. I really thought the grand prize would go to someone who entered more time intensive things: videos, original art, fan fic...I haven't the talent for such things so I'm always more impressed by them.

How was Teryl? That is, beyond manic and entertaining and just a sweet woman? Did anyone wish her a Happy Birthday?

oh, oh, oh - that's right - congratulations on winning for your icons. Well deserved. (I voted for you!) And, I looked at all your pictures of Teryl. It looks like she was having a grand time. She's just so bouncy! *G* How can anyone not just love her?!

OMG! I hadn't seen that icon before -- it's hysterical! And SO Teryl! I can HEAR her saying that. I'm sorry that wasn't entered in the contest because KT gave a little book to her with all the entries and I think she would love that icon.

*hugs* Thank you for the vote. It was really tough for me to vote because there were so many wonderful entries. She was having a FABULOUS time. She always does, of course, it's infectious. Is there anyone who doesn't love her? I've only heard glowing things from fans and I think it's because you just can't help but love a woman whor eaches out to her fans and loves them right back. :)

Teryl was (is) awesome. A number of people said Happy B'day within my earshot, and during the meet and greet there was a loud bang and a certain amount of squealing and confetti/sparkly things/large phallic balloons from a table over the far side of the room. I suspect it was Meesh and her band of crazys. I had to fight the urge to go over and join in.

I'm going to paste something over from a comment in Katie's LJ I made earlier (now deleted) not sure if you read it already. Sorry to spam, but it is for a good cause... ;)

Bear in mind, this being my first ever con and first ever experience of fruitcake!Teryl, I'm not sure I can give a good account. I was laughing too hard.

Random, funny things really: the crowd were rather prone to picking up on anything vaguely suggestive and running with it. Someone asked what role she'd like to play on either Stargates - she rambled on a bit about Janet's alter ego Gwendoline Stewart (the surname being from Patrick, of course) and summarised with something like, "Yeah, I would do a bad guy."
The crowd starts hooting and she spins round thinking that something has been put up on the screen. Nothing has though, and you can see her running through the last bit of conversation in her head -- then she clicks and gets that mock-outrage expression... you know. Utterly disgusted with the lot of us she retreats to the 'cheap seats' and finds an older fan to ask an innocent question -- turns out to be, "Which bad guy would you do?"

When McGillion (Beckett) was doing his talk she marched on stage, bent over, and looked up his kilt. Then gave us the thumbs up, Teryl stylee, and slunk back off stage right.
Also, I'm assuming she had a good birthday cos she entered the room on Fri saying, "I am sooo hungOVER!" (and then proceeded to purloin someones whiskey from the nearest table and throw it back). Loon.

During McGillion's talk she was on for a bit, they had a fan onstage, both doing the doctor thing with pen lights etc. I can't remember what but Paul (as Beckett) insults Janet's doctor-ness (probably inferring that he must be a better doctor cos he hasn't been killed off), then tries to backpedal. Teryl's response is, "Poor recovery... But I'll take it!" To which Paul is like, "She'll take anything..."

Yesterday, at the end of her talk, Brian (the Wolf events organiser) said that she should do some impromptu cabaret. She needed to get to her photo shoot, so she was all, "I'm not prepared, it'll take time!" and Brian was like, "I can wait." Teryl gets this complete devious pixie-face on her and says, triumphantly, "You don't know how long I've been trying to get Brian to say he'll wait!" and sticks her fist in the air.

Needless to say the mini cabaret was great, consummate performer that she is.

She also told the little bird story ["I was walking into a health food store-- I know, you can't get whiskey in a health food store, but I keep trying..."], the Siler story, and the audition where she ended up with a tripod in her crotch. [Snakes On A mother****ing Plane, man! Hee cool that she auditioned for that -- ha imagine if they kept the reel and we get to see it...]

And her best kiss ever has been with RDA. Her most romantic dance was with Carmen (Jacob/Selmac) in Paris [apparently at the end he said, "We'll always have Paris." He tried it again in NJ, but Teryl confessed that 'We'll always have Secaucus' doesn't have quite the same ring...]

She professed a seeming-liking for bald men -- Patrick Stewart, Brian (lol), some guy she's acted with -- then her crazy mouth ran away with her and she was all, "HA! Donny-Don!" (Don S Davis obviously) then "Whoa, no! He's like a father to me..."

Also, if she had to be a kitchen utensil she'd be a whisk. Reflecting on that, she's not sure why.
God, people do ask some silly questions...

Whoa, I have more, but LJ says it's too much! Lol. One sec....

cont

She pulled her patented 'Dr Fraiser this-means-business glare' when someone backstage wouldn't/couldn't stop their walkie talkie radio thing making static mumbling noises. She threatened to go back there and put it, er, somewhere. Finally she did march off and deal with it, only to have someone bring it out later and pour water onto it in a bucket or something in front of her. She noted that if she'd realised back when TPTB came calling that it'd be that easy, then "Dr Fraiser would still be alive. *pause to giggle* BAD radio!!"

In conclusion, she was blatantly having loads of fun. She's such a hoot, and I can only wonder what the other actors made of her -- the way she seems to *gain* energy from performing and running round like a mad thing and egging on the crowd. Cos she totally knows what she's doing. Apart from that 'do a bad guy' thing, every other innuendo/leading comment was deliberately laid down as bait. Ho-bag. ;)

Ah, just remembered one more thing. Paul McGillion did an amusing impression of Teryl -- he was explaining that backstage at his first con he was so nervous, and Teryl was soothing him and telling him of her nerves every time, even after all the cons she's done.
Just as he was encouraged and relieved to hear that she was nervous too, her name was announced, and she "jumps up like a wee rabbit...*does this amazing leap thing with elbows on hips and flailing hands and squeee-face*... and runs on stage!"
I'm sure he meant to say a bit more, but the jump caused his open whiskey flask to fall over and... well, priorities!

Ahh, lots of writing. Are you sorry you asked? ;)

Absolutely not! I'm sorry I don't have a lot of time to chat today. :( Teryl sounds as if she was fine form, the vixen, and I'm dying to talk with you about this. Maybe tomorrow my schedule will be a bit better. We have a sick dog here so I'm sneaking in to answer comments.
[identity profile] cnidarian.livejournal.com on November 20th, 2006 12:14 am (UTC)
Hey don't worry about it! :) I'm glad you want to talk tho, cos I'm so late to this 'hey! Teryl is awesome!' thing and I feel I got serious catching-up to do ;) I mean, 14 months ago, I'd never even heard of her.

I'm sorry to hear your dog is sick. Hope it's not serious...

Yeah, so I'm around whenever you have the time.

Teryl is so awesome, I don't think she grows uninteresting. :)

Our elderly dog is having some major difficulties so it's a matter of time. I don't know if it's a month or a year and a half (medication helps but illness takes a toll on his quality of life. So long as he's still happy and looks forward to each day, we're counting ourselves lucky. We have a younger dog, too, and he's still in good health and full of vigor. It's good to have that.

Hopefully later today I'll be free to chat about Teryl. *fingers crossed*
