Comments appreciated - critique is welcome as I'm still learning. How else am I to learn? Credit is optional so long as nobody else claims to have made them.

I haven't done tutorials because I don't do anything terribly original and nobody has asked. I'm always happy to tell anyone who wants to know exactly how I did anything. I can certainly try my hand at it. Do you have any preference amongst the 3? If not, I'll try to write up something about each. (I'm not certain how well I'll do with the Sam icon because I think I processed it using tritones and that wouldn't be obvious to me in my *.psd file but I'll check.) I'm more than happy to answer any and all questions you might have. Don't be shy - I love to let people know what tricks I've learned and, hopefully, I remember where I first saw the idea so I can give proper credit.

Well, the coloring on the Sam icon has me curious.... But of the other two, being a Danny fangirl, I'd have to say that 16 is my favorite. I can see what I think is the blur tool on the skin, sharpen tool on the eyes, but there's more that I'm not sure of. I'm guessing it's color burn layers, maybe, since my program doesn't have color burn, and every time I ask someone who uses PS what they did because I can't figure it out, they usually say there are color burn layers somewhere...

Ah, you think I'm more complicated than I am! On none of the ones you ask about did I use color burn. I prefer that technique on landscapes because I think it's too harsh on people.

I can't even see the eyes on the Daniel icon. So it's not even as detailed in the sharpening/smoothing as you give me credit for. It's going to be such a disappointment when you see how little I did. :) I'm writing the tutorials now.

lol. Actually, I don't think I'll be disappointed. The best icons are always the ones that are very simple, I think.

Well, it's darned simple to do but bloody long to write up! I've written out two of the icons you asked for: Daniel and Sam. Teal'c, which is horribly conventional down to its unavoidable dark blue exclusion layer, I will write up tomorrow when I have access to the file for an icon that [livejournal.com profile] i_am_a_cylon asked about.

The best icons are always the ones that are very simple, I think.

*snort* Then I should be a master! ;)
