Thank you! -- and another meme
Awww...some kind soul anonymously sent me an LJ yellow flower in sympathy. I have decided it is a yellow ranunculus as I prefer those to roses. It was completely unexpected and much appreciated. Thank you for thinking of me.

ALSO -- because I haven't done a meme in forever and because I'm a sucker for anything MBTI, I'm stealing this from [livejournal.com profile] deani_bean:

Preferred type: INTJ
(who you prefer to be)
INTJ - "Mastermind". Introverted intellectual with a preference for finding certainty. A builder of systems and the applier of theoretical models. 2.1% of total population.
Attraction type: ENTJ
(who you are attracted to)

They don't show it in the copy and paste code, but the test also breaks down your results into percentages. I hadn't seen one before that looked at "Who You Prefer to Be" vs. "Who You Are." It has given me some food for reflection.

...Don't you find it interesting that--considering the fact that our personalities are exactly opposite--we are attracted to the exact same people?

Yes! I did. I almost threatened to never introduce you to Joe, my very own wonderful ENTJ, but then I remembered that he fails the, "hunky black dude" test. *grin*

I've been pondering this test and I still don't get how there can be someone who scores a different type on "who I am" vs. "who I want to be." I thought the whole point of MBTI was to look at how one interacts with the world. It's a sort of "just is" thing. We're not talking about traits generally judged as good or bad by society, such as say, "I wish I were kinder" or "I wish I had a smaller butt" where societal mores tend to influence what we want. Seems to me if there were something about who you were that was at deep odds with who you wanted to be, you'd end up changing because these are comfort grooves.

What is fascinating to me is the "Whom I'm Attracted To" part. Yes, I like a more sociable mate because it helps to draw me out of my internal world but otherwise, I'm happy with who I am and I look for someone with similar proclivities and values. I'm guessing that you're more likely to enjoy the spice of differences while I value the harmony of similarity more. Interesting stuff to think about, at least.
