Catching up with the f-list
Now that I again feel human, I've been diving back into the depths of my f-list after losing the past couple of weeks to poisoning by fish. I see that I've missed some biggies -- a couple of friends suffered deaths of friends and family, one's brother ended up in the hospital a 2nd time for a horrifying skin bacterial infection, a divorce, confessions of fears at starting a new job -- and some more positive developments -- a friend going metrosexual (I so want photos!), trip reports, sparring with windmills, and so on. While I was recovering, Tom Delay quit and the rest of the country joined my planet and discovered that the emperor has no clothes that we aren't safer with Bush in office.

Please don't take my silence as disinterest. In truth, responding to bad news is hard for me. I suck with words and I am terrified of saying the wrong thing. It literally takes me an hour or more to figure out a couple of sentences that I think appropriately conveys my feelings without coming off as trite or insincere or boorish. It seems doubly useless when I'm trying to respond so long after the fact.

Oh, the Humanity!
I personally have been very offended that over the last few weeks you have failed to respond to ALL of my posts, not just one or two here and there. Really Misty. I am very disappointed in you. Don't you know that your whole mission in life is to keep all your LJ friends satisfied with prompt responses to their posts. I know we have discussed this before. Come on, now. What's it going to take, Misty. Really. What's it going to take?

Re: Oh, the Humanity!
I get a thrill out of seeing that SG-1 icon. It's hysterical!

OK, on second reading maybe the post sounds a bit more apologetic than I meant it to sound. I chose the wrong time to get poisoned because it looks like Big Stuff was a foot.

Funny you should mention responses to your posts...because I've been puzzling over the one you made about glasses, their contents, and role of the observer for a while. Not that I have anything profound to add to the discussion but it was one of those, "aha! I just realized/had reinforced something about myself" kinds of moments.

And what'll it take? That's easy. A winning lottery ticket so that I may devote myself to making others' lives better. Or their f-lists more spammy. Depending, as all of life does, on one's perspective.

I am glad I could help.

I am sending you a karmic lottery ticket via telepathy. However, if it is a winner you have to share it with me.

Re: Oh, the Humanity!
*scratches head* Not certain how I'd cash a telepathic karmic lottery ticket but you're welcome to half the proceeds when I get 'em.
