I couldn't make an icon to save my life, but you know I love watching. This LIMS is the only one I truly stick with, though I've tried others. :)

And I think you know how much I love you for your thoughtful votes. LIMS always start out strong and people drift away as they're eliminated or as they get tired. I love that you stick with us and vote all the time. ♥ ♥ ♥

And I'm always greatly amused that what usually draws me toward an icon or away from one is generally the opposite of the majority opinion. ;)

But that makes your vote all the more important to me. I KNOW that's counter-intuitive but here's why I say this:

1. Often, communities attract people with the same sense of aesthetics. This leads to a uniformity of entries and winners. I want a diversity of opinion.

2. If you're drawn to something that otherwise was unpopular, it's good to have a counter opinion expressed so that when that person gets an avalanche of negative concrit, there's someone out there who found something of value in the icon.

3. Often makers get caught up in more abstract issues. I WANT users there to add their voices about what appeals to someone who uses the icons. You know, the icon consumer.

Honestly, there have been times where one of the criteria for selecting a favorite is that I haven't had a sense of total deja vu. Because sometimes an icon can be brilliant, but it can also be something that's been done again and again and it never fails. That pings my contrary little soul. ;)

Hey, creativity is a legitimate technical criteria for voting. I have a bunch of C's that I vote on: clarity, composition, clever, creativity, color, crop, cText.

And I also have to say I love that you keep on goin' whether or not you get eliminated.

The fun for me is in playing not in winning since I know I am too impatient and sometimes push the boundaries too much and not really skilled enough so I won't win. I love the creativity and the sense of community and the safe place that Mish and Becky provide. Plus - I just don't know when to quit :D

I can't express how happy it makes me to read this. It was my goal in creating the community to provide a safe place for SG-1 fans of all stripes to come together and make pretty icons for my number one fandom.

I'm glad that you saw this. :D I think it's safe to say that we've "done good." We've both dedicated ourselves to making this comm a success. Thank YOU for making it possible, m'dear.
