Quote
"Setting an example is not the main means of influencing another, it is the only means."

This was the Einstein quote of the day a couple days ago and I had reason to reference it yesterday in a discussion of those whose sole contribution to problem solving is telling others what they're doing wrong. I just wanted to stash this some place where I could find it in future discussions.

:) :) :) I'm not normally a quote collector but this one was so basic to what I believe -- and so much pithier than I tend to be.

Where did you read the quote?

It's from a book by Stephen R. Donaldson called, The Runes of the Earth.

Good read, then? Now that all the Harry Potter books are out, I've been reading those at every opportunity. They're quick reads and I can see why they're popular. :)

LOL it's the 7th book in a very long series of books. ;)

Ah, must be good if you've stuck it out through 7 books.

Well, I started reading them as a late teen. It's a SciFi/Fantasy genre. I assumed (like most fans of the book) that after the 6th one, they were over. But then a few years ago, as I've recently found out, S. R. Donaldson picked the series up again and wrote a 7th book, with 2 more to follow.

Oh! It's one of my greatest pleasures to discover a great writer/great story teller after she has a body of work and I know that I can anticipate reading lots of good stuff. One of life's great joys.

I haven't read much from the sci fi/fantasy aisle lately and I should rectify that. Though I suppose the Harry Potter books would count if they weren't shelved in the children's section. Actually, I've read precious few books since discovering fan fic.
