Contract Archaeology: The Coloring Book

Too bad there aren't any archaeologists on my flist; not that that stops me from spamming you with my amusing find of the day.

I have, of course, already ordered my copy. The sample illustrations should be familiar to archaeologists everywhere, in the event you have any archaeologists (current, budding, or retired) on your gift list this year.

I'm not an archaeologist, but man is that COOL!

By the way, if you've never been to the Museo Nacional de Antropologia in Mexico City, I bet you'd love it. It was one of the coolest things I ever saw, besides the pyramids out at Teotihuacan. That whole area is just filled with amazing historical sites (and sights).

Seriously, I'd LOVE to go to the Museo Nacional de Antropología. I haven't been but Bob brought me back several books from his trip that made me salivate. My favorite is a thick treatise on dental health in Precolumbian Mexico. But then, I'm a bone geek.

The sites are the only thing I've ever really wanted to visit Mexico for. Going to trendy resorts doesn't appeal and I have enough heat and humidity in Houston, thanks.

Teotihuacan is amazing. You can FEEL the age in things when you put your hands on the stone. It's also pretty cool to visit a city where you see archaeological digs in the middle of the subway tunnels. The whole city is chock full of amazing museums and historical sites. Yes, it's one of the most crowded and dirtiest cities on the planet. But it's an amazing place.
