Dubious Honor?
  • White House Deputy Press Secretary Dana Perino said Gonzales has the full backing of the president.
--After Gonzales appeared before the Senate Judiciary Committee

  • Nov 1, 2006:
"Both those men [Donald Rumsfeld, Dick Cheney] are doing fantastic jobs and I strongly support them." -- George Bush
    Nov 8, 2006:
    Bush accepts Rumsfeld's Resignation

  • "You're doing a heck of a job, Brownie."
--Bush to Michael Brown at the height of the post-Katrina response crisis and shortly before he relieved Brown of his duties.

  • October 2005:
Bush nominates Harriet Miers to the Supreme Court

Is it just me or does The Idiot in Charge's endorsement seem to be code for "Incompetent Crony?" I bet Paul Wolfowitz, currently accused of promoting his lover to a high paying position, hopes that Bush stops touting how much he "has full faith" in him.

Exactly. The Texas Governor is as influential or inconsequential as he or she chooses to be. You get a good one, like Ann Richards, and it can be a powerful office. She was a true leader. She led in all the right ways. Then you get dumbasses like Dubya who couldn't lead his ass to the bathroom if you tied him to the sink.

Amen, sister. I really didn't know just how fleeting those Good Times were with Richards and Clinton. Gods, that depresses me. :(

Tell me about it. I comfort myself that we'll likely survive this.

We may have to do it at the top of a mountain, but we'll likely survive this.
