hehe Okay, I'll play. Mine came out too long, as usual, though, so I'm going to have to split it into three comments. *g* It'll mess up the numbering of the questions, though, but I'm not going back to change it now. hehe

  1. Can you cook?

Yes. I don't like to cook any more, though. I learned how to cook the hard way--by making lots of mistakes. I'm relatively good at it now. I like making things from scratch and I've been known to cook some really good stuff. Before I was a vegetarian, I cooked holiday meals and did the whole thing. I can bake bread from scratch and even make pasta and sauces and pretty much anything.

I got sick of cooking, though. If I had my choice, everyone would eat cold cereal for every meal. *g*

  2. What was your dream growing up?

I wanted to be a singer, which sucks because I suck at singing. The only other thing I wanted to do was be a writer.

I also wanted to have a million kids and run a home for wayward boys. My friend wanted to be a marine biologist, so our dream was to have a big old farmhouse with a saltwater pool so that she could train her dolphins and I could have room for all the wayward boys.

(It's the time period. When I was growing up, nearly all my friends wanted to be social workers! *g* Seriously. And I read books like The Cross & the Switchblade, The Family Nobody Wanted, a book about a family called the DeBolts who adopted a zillion special needs children, and, of course, Little Women and Jo's Boys... My farm idea seemed perfectly reasonable when I was 10. *g*)

When I got older, I wanted to be Mother Earth/Ma Ingalls (even though I did not like the TV show Little House on the Prairie). I wanted to live out in the wild or at least on a big farm somewhere, and have lots of kids (at least four, probably six or more) and have this huge iron pot hanging over the fireplace where I'd make stew. I'd bake bread and...

Well, you get the idea. I wanted to leave civilization behind and live in a cabin in the woods with no electricity or other amenities. Or if there were an opportunity to go start a community on another planet, I planned to do that--with my family, of course.

In some ways, I actually got to do this, though not exactly, of course. *g* I did used to cook everything from scratch and bake and sew and spend time with my kids. We also camped for about a month on the way to Alaska, and that was an *awesome* experience. It felt like being pioneers except we could stop at stores, though in some parts of Canada, they were few and far between. *g* It's by far my favorite time with my family, though I love that we have always been and still are a very close-knit family that actually spends time together. I'd rather hang out with my husband and kids than anyone.

And I just remembered I had this post about that trip. I suck at trying to make it interesting, though. *g* Don't feel like you have to go read, but just in case, it's there. *g*

  3. What talent do you wish you had?

I wish I were a better writer, but, while I am not a people person and have no desire to be, I wish I had that ability to make other people feel good that some people I know have. So many times I try to reach out to people and end up doing or saying the wrong thing or even offending them when I really just meant to be nice or make conversation to let them know, "Hey, someone's listening..." *g*

  4. Favorite place?

Place? Huh. I love my office at home. It's my own room. People can visit me in here, but it's all mine. I have it exactly the way I want it.

Besides that, I love my house. I love it. It's not my dream house, and I'd leave it for a better house and/or I'd like to renovate this one if we decide to stay here, but...I feel so lucky to be here, and I'm totally comfortable here. Every day I come downstairs and think, "I am so lucky to be here."

  5. Favorite vegetable?

    Green beans and/or butternut squash.

  1. What was the last book you read?

And finished? *g* Since the advent of the internet and especially fanfiction, I don't read as many books as I used to (I never went anywhere without a book and still don't, usually) and I usually read more for information than anything else. I read a lot of articles about things I'm interested in besides reading books.

I think the last book I finished was The iPod and iTunes PocketGuide by Christopher Breen. I could be wrong about that, though.

I'm currently reading about eight other other books, though. Three of them are diet books, three are books about writing, one is another iPod book, and another is a book about health/digestive problems.

  2. What zodiac sign are you?

    Sagittarius

  3. Any Tattoos and/or Piercings?

No. I let my ears close up. Besides ear piercings, though, I think they are all really, really, really disgusting. When I see those nose piercings, all I can think about is what if they sneeze or get a cold and have icky boogers and they'll get all over the nose ring. Mouth piercings strike me in a similar way--food in it, infection, vomiting with gross vomit all over it...

Heh. Yeah, I know. I'm phobic about germs and icky stuff and piercings are just to icky for me.

About tattoos I think Slater, on Saved by the Bell, summed it up best by calling them, "hideous disfiguring marks." LOL

  4. Worst Habit?

LOL I have no clue. Licking my plate if it's something good? I'd never do it if anyone was around, though. *g*

  5. Do we know each other outside of Livejournal?

    No.

  6. What is your favorite sport?

Sport? Meh... Well, I do like watching ice skating, but I havne't watched even that in many years. I mostly only watched it if it was the Olympics, and I haven't been able to stand the coverage in the last few Olympics when they started making it so Rah! Rah! U.S.-centric. To me the point of the Olympics was to learn about other cultures. I loved it when they'd do a profile on some athlete from a tiny country and who had no chance to win, really...

  7. Do you have a Negative or Optimistic attitude?

    Negative, definitely.

  8. What would you do if you were stuck in an elevator with me?

Get claustrophic? Wonder if you were going to rob me or hurt me in some way? *g*

  9. Worst thing to ever happen to you?

Me personally? It was when I broke my hand. That was by far the most horrible time in my life.

  10. Tell me one weird fact about you.

I always drink out of straws. Well, almost always. I buy straws and have them in a special glass container for straws like from an old-fashioned soda fountain. Unless I'm drinking a hot drink, I use a straw, usually.

  11. Do you have any pets?

I have one kitty named Georgie (George Washington).

  12. Do you know how to do the Macarena?

No. I never learned that. That was long after my time. We did the Hully Gully.

  13. What time is it where you are now?

    11:21 p.m.

  14. Do you think clowns are cute or scary?

I hate clowns. I'm not terrified of them, but I have never liked clowns or circus images.

  15. If you could change one thing about how you look, what would it be?

I'd make my hair grow back. :-( My hair is falling out. Soon I'll be bald.

  16. Would you be my partner in crime or my conscience?

Probably conscience. heh I don't know. I guess it would depend.

  17. What color eyes do you have?

    Brown

  18. Ever been arrested?

    No.

ext_2780[identity profile] aizjanika.livejournal.com on March 10th, 2007 05:03 am (UTC)

  1. Bottle or Draft?

I don't drink beer or any alcoholic beverages of any kind ever. *g* No, really. I never developed a taste for it. Beer is so disgusting and wine tastes like drinking vinegar straight to me. Champagne is gross. Whiskey... Gross. Vodka? Gross.

It's not like I didn't try when I was younger, but by the time I was 21 or so, I'd given up. (The drinking age was 18 when I was young, which is not to say that I didn't try out certain forms of alcohol before the age of 18. *g*)

I also have an extreme phobia not only of my puking, but that anyone might puke. I literally start shaking in fear at the thought of being around people who are drinking because I think they might get sick. It depends on the situation, though. New Year's Eve party? I'm not going. Any gathering of a large group of people I don't know involving a holiday on which people traditionally get drunk? No. *g* OTOH, we serve beer and wine at my house when we have gatherings and at that sort of thing at someone's house, I'm not bothered by it, as long as it's not the type of people who are going to get riproaring drunk and puke. hehe If someone came to my house and got drunk, that'd be the last time that person would be invited even if he or she didn't puke. *g*

  2. If you won $10,000 dollars today, what would you do with it?

Huh. That's not enough. lol I mean, really. It would be counted as income and that's that much less financial aid my kids would get for college. I'd love to get new cars for my kids if only so we wouldn't have to worry about fixing our junky cars all the time, but $10K isn't enough for that either. (I'd love to do that, though, because broken cars causes so much stress for my husband.)

    So...I don't know. lol

Unless someone gifted us with enough money so that we didn't ever have to work or worry about money again, any amount of money seems more like a liability to me than a help. I'm sure my husband would disagree with that, but I just find the whole thing so worrisome. *g*

If I could just spend it on junk for myself (not counting charity or taking care of family or something like that), I could easily spend $10,000 in iTunes, I'm sure. hehe

  3. What kind of bubble gum do you prefer to chew?

I don't chew gum. Last I checked, most gum is not vegetarian and since I'm vegetarian, I gave it up a long time ago.

  4. What's your favorite bar to hang at?

Bar? LOL I don't go to bars. I've only been in a bar maybe twice in my life. I went to one with my husband and his friends after we were married one time. Recently, I went to one with the homeschool teen group. LOL Yeah, really! We were at a nearby beach and they served lunch there and the kids got to play a game of pool. People were allowed to smoke, though, and I didn't like that. I'd probably never go again.

  5. Do you believe in ghosts?

    No

  6. Favorite thing to do in your spare time?

    I love to read LiveJournal. *g* I don't know.

Hmmm... I like to work with computer graphics, though I'm not good at it. I sometimes miss those aspects of homeschooling. I'd spend more time creating beautiful worksheets for the kids than they spent doing them. hehe

  7. Do you swear a lot?

No, but I do swear sometimes. hehe I grew up in New England. I think it would be inevitable.

  8. Biggest pet peeve?

    Inconsiderate people.

  9. In one word, how would you describe yourself?

    ??? I can't. lol

  10. In one word, how would you describe me?

One word? I suck at this sort of thing. I'd be hard-pressed to write a description even if I could use 10,000 words.

  11. Will you repost this so I can fill it out and do the same for you?

Eh, I already answered here so...repost if you want but I hate these sorts of peer-pressure things.

LOL Me too! There's one going around that says you *must* post this in your journal and I always think, "No, I won't!" hehe OTOH, this one was fun. We'll see. hehe

piercings are just to icky for me

I meant too icky. *g*
