Just call Me Pollyanna...
This morning began with a seriously flat tire and a trip to Discount Tire to purchase two new tires. I was not a happy camper as I wanted to leave a little early tomorrow for the holidays. I have a huge pile of work; taking out time to loiter in my local tire shop, spending money I wanted to spend on other more exciting things, wasn't part of the plan.

The troublesom tire, once it was flat, showed signs of beginning to dry rot. I have a weekend trip planned and I'm VERY glad I had to change out the tires. I'd much rather have a flat in my driveway than have a blowout at highway speed. And? They balanced the tires correctly for the first time and there's no more vibration at 70 the posted maximum of 60. So now I know it was a tire thing like I thought and not a more hideously expensive wheel or shaft problem. Bonus!

Also, the better half was wonderful. Yes, I could have dealt with the flat -- my parents insisted I understand basic car care and could change a tire before I could take driving lessons -- but I was very grateful not to be doing so while dressed for work. He was the one who noticed the signs of rot. I'm a very lucky woman; I guess I'm getting started early on my Thanksgiving.

*snort* Love that wiggly eyebrow Jack! I'm answering with my wiggly eyebrow Janet by katiedammit. I always thought those two had good chemistry in The Broca Divide so they can wiggle hairy body parts at each other. ;-)

I'm extraordinarily grateful for the flat tire. Which was totally not my first reaction on walking out of the house this morning.

Woot, go J! :D

I had a blowout in the truck last month while on my way home from Houston, on 288. Yeah, I was doing about 70. When the truck started to tilt off of horizontal to the right, I thought we were gonna die (SUVs have no reinforcement in the roofs so when they tip over, you die, period). Thank god I got us slowed down and off the side of the road in time.

I am SO glad you woke UP to a flat today, rather than find out when it might have been too late to help you. Thanksgiving, indeed!

I really am one of the luckiest women alive.

GAH!!!! A blowout is the one thing that most concerns me given that my car is a convertible without a rollbar. It's so low it would be hard to flip (yay!) but I'm assured of being dead if it did happen (not so yay).

I am adding your safe handling of the blowout to my long list of things I'm grateful for. *hugs*

Happy Thanksgiving, my sweet friend. I hope lots of hugs, food and love come at you and J both, from all directions.

You're two of the things I'm grateful for this season :D

Awwww...you're so sweet to me! Thank you. You were most certainly one of my friends I had in mind when my turn for the "what are you thankful for" came around this year.

I just checked my e-mail and got yours; sorry to have been out of touch for a while. I've answered it now. Let me know if there's anything I can do to help promote your work. *smooches*

oops. Deleted my first comment because it was stupid - it was missing a word and you would have been thinking - huh?

This is what I meant to say:

I am very happy to hear that this did not happen while you were out on the highway. Kind of like the brake thing with me - could have been really bad. Now, you can be safe and enjoy the holiday. I too, can change a flat tire, but you know, sometimes you just don't want to - especially when dressed in dry clean only work clothes!

Have a safe trip and a very Happy Thanksgiving!

We both have guardian angels of some sort, don't we? One of the things I bought in that insane post-Thanksgiving shopping trip was a set of tire caps that are also pressure gauges that show a green line so long as the pressure is good. I'm notoriously bad about remembering to check things like that.

I hope that your Thanksgiving was an excellent one. We had very mild weather and a huge gathering of family and a safe trip to Fort Worth and back to gaze upon the Hatshepsut exhibit.

I'm glad nothing happened to you! Who would keep me entertained during the boring moments at cons??? :)

Geez - I face grusome death on the highway in my rollbar-free convertible and all you think of is your own con entertainment?!?!?!? *SMOOCH*

Never change, m'dear. You were also amongst my list of wonderful friends that I gave thanks for last week. Of course, now I'm not so sure... ;-)
