YOU'RE ON MY FRIENDS LIST, I WANNA KNOW YOU... I want to know 34 things about you. I don't care if we never talk, never liked each other, or if we already know everything about each other. Short and sweet is fine... I just wanna know you better! Thanks! =)

1. Yes but I prefer to bake.
2. To be a veterinarian.
3. Why do I only have to pick one? I'd love to be able to sing beautifully, to paint, to write well, to make people laugh, and I'd dearly love to have the talent that Einstein had, to be able to see completely beyond my own world into a whole new one.
4. I refuse to pick only one. I love Vancouver, the Rocky Mountains, cruising through the San Juan Islands, the top of a rollercoaster, quiet paths in green forests, a sunny spot on a cool day, and fireside under a blanket on a cold & rainy day. I love being in front of the computer, talking to friends, and the drowsy land between sleep and wakefulness. There are lots and lots and lots of places that I love.
5. Again, I refuse to pick one. The potato is simply un-ruinable in my world. Brussels sprouts are particularly great as are broccoli and cabbage. I love squashes and greens and beans and grains and...well, about the only one I dislike is okra. And cooked carrots.
6. Hmmm...I'm assuming this means last fiction book because otherwise I've been reading 3 different Photoshop books (color correction, photo enhancements, & a general theory book) and those aren't very interesting meme-wise. Last fiction book I finished was an Aaron Elkins mystery.
7. Sagittarius.
8. Two piercings.
9. Avoidance and procrastination.
10. Gods, we knew each other for how many years before LJ was even a twinkle in a 20-something's eye? ;-)
11. Love to watch sports that combine athleticism with grace -- diving, gymnastics, skating, skiing...
12. Er, I have a realistic attitude? Probably I have both but I honestly never thought about it.
13. You mean after we alerted someone else to our predicament? Sit around and chat.
14. Worst thing ever? Geez. I don't know. I can think of some things I wish hadn't happened or that were unpleasant. Watching my grandfather die wasn't particularly fabulous. Having my foot wired back together was no picnic. Nothing really rises to "tragedy" though and the question seems...melodramatic.
15. Who catalogs facts about themselves as "weird?" They just are. Uh, when I was an infant I was so small that "00" booties fell off of me and then in 4th grade I was actually tall for about 6 months before the other girls got their growth spurts.
16. Yes. *grin* I suppose I'm supposed to list them? 2 rescue dogs, the little scamps.
17. Yes.
18. 1 p.m.
19. Scary. (And cute!)
20. I'd be svelte.
21. Partner in crime, baby!
22. My eyes are blue. (Is it just me or is the wording of this question weird? Shouldn't it just be, "What color are your eyes?" I mean, it's not as if I have a couple of spare sets in my possession.)
23. Never arrested.
24. I wasn't aware those were options for tequila. ;-)
25. Put it in the bank. $10K goes shockingly fast.
26. When I was a kind, I was a fan of whatever blew the biggest bubbles.
27. Uh...I'm too old for this question. *g* I want food with my alcohol these days.
28. No.
29. Play around on the computer.
30. All the time.
31. Oh lord, now you've done it. You really don't want me to start listing them because there are people who peeve me just by the fact that they breathe.
32. Reasonable.
33. BeautifulGeekySexySmart. (It's possible I've been hanging with the Germans too long.)
34. Sure.

2) I had a recurring dream as a child that there was a giant outside our house, peering in the dining room window. His eye was blue. Oh, not that dream? I wanted to be a psychologist.
3) I long to be visually artistic. I want to paint, and photograph. I want the pictures I can write to come alive for real.
4) I can't have one favorite place.
5) Broccoli. Or tomatoes. It depends.
6) The Grapes of Wrath
7) I'm a Sagittarius/Capricorn cusper.
8) Yes.
9) Sarcasm and twitchiness around hot guys.
10) No, though I think I saw you at GateCon once.
11) I really don't do sports. I like watching ice hockey.
12) People think I'm negative. I'm actually a realist and see lots of positive. I just tend to vocalize the negative more for some reason.
13) Play "Say Say, Oh Playmate" with you.
14) Nothing truly bad has happened to you, though the month and half my father was in the hospital in 2001 really sucked.
15) My favorite sleeping position is on my stomach, with at least one pillow on top of my back. I like the pressure.
16) No, sadly.
17) I refuse to answer on the grounds it may incriminate me.
18) 1:02 PM.
19) Scary. Duh.
20) One thing? Toss up between having my waddle (under chin) sucked out, or my arms liposuctioned. I've had FAT arms since I was 15 and I hate them.
21) Depends on what you'd want to do. I have limits to the felonious things I'll do.
22) Hazel/green.
23) No, but it was on my Master List of Things To Do at one time.
24) Neither, thanks.
25) Give it to my parents so they can have a better retirement.
26) I do not chew bubble gum.

28) Sure, why not?
29) I love to read. I love to write. I do both a lot.
30) Only in my head.
31) Waaaay too many to name, but I really can't tolerate stupid people.
32) Boring.
33) Creativeawesome.
34) Probably not, because I'm lazy. ;)
no subject
Ah, another Christmas-time baby only you seem to have it worse than I. *pets*
10) No, though I think I saw you at GateCon once.
*perks* Oh? How very cool! I had no idea. Hmm...I'd say describe yourself but it has been almost 4 years now. I probably have a pic of you if we both attended the same GateCon. I was snapping pictures everywhere.
21) Depends on what you'd want to do. I have limits to the felonious things I'll do.
Sadly (?), I'm kind of boring and there are limits on the felonious things I'd do, too. Being my "partner in crime" really wouldn't be very out there. :)
32) Boring.
I completely disagree. *hugs*

I never minded much. My parents (read: mom) were great about keeping things separate. I think I only had a couple Christmasy birthday cakes when I was little, and I made my mom make them... ;) Friends and more distant relatives were notorious for giving combo gifts.
*perks* Oh? How very cool! I had no idea. Hmm...I'd say describe yourself but it has been almost 4 years now. I probably have a pic of you if we both attended the same GateCon. I was snapping pictures everywhere.
You wouldn't remember me even if we met. People tend to forget me moments after conversing with me. No, really, it's happened. ;) Points to icon. I think you were there with your husband, though?
no subject
I was there with Joe, yes. :) Honestly, I wasn't noticing a lot of the people around me because I was too busy being variously annoyed with the insanely bad organization and peeved at spending a lot of my vacation sitting on my butt in a line in a stinky hall in a hotel and being yelled at by volunteers. :|
no subject
Me too! *g* I'm actually a very happy and content person most of the time, but I think I come off as being negative. I don't see that as a bad thing, though. I have a tendency to want to see all sides of something, whatever it is. I like to consider all points--the good, the bad, and the ugly. hehe

I'm a great cook. I just don't like doing it unless it's for family, friends, etc.

Now how scary is THAT?
The one where you don't believe in the zodiac. Which one is that? ;)
LOL! I'm not a believer in it, either, but yet I know my "sign." Go figure.
No, but I can't wait to meet *g*
*snort* Maybe we could meet at the MFAH's show of paintings from the Met? We need to reschedule that before time gets away from us.
Make you tell me AGAIN how tall and beautiful Gale Harold is in person.
Mmmmmmmm...yes, he is. Utterly edible.
I was physically and emotionally abused by my parents, as a child.
:( :( :( *hugs* Amazing how resilient a person is; while I'm sure it has challenged you in many ways I can't see, you really don't come across as damaged or stunted or held back from life because of it.
I don't have one. Can you make any suggestions? ;)
I used to have one but now...not so much. I guess that's something we'll have to do as part of our impending crime spree: find a good bar to hang out in after our felonious fun.

Amy was over last night and she's even available this Saturday. This is a rare and beautiful thing. She's ALWAYS busy on Saturday. Joe will most likely be working but I've told him he's welcome as well. Maybe a second miracle will happen. (I think he's not all that excited about the exhibit, so I'm not holding my breath.)

We haven't been able to nail down plans for tomorrow (no biggie, we have plenty of time to see the exhibits!), so Greg has asked me to make plans with him for tomorrow... some things around the house he wants to get done, and some shopping he needs my help with, so I'll stick around here with him for the day and you and I can try again on another weekend. I know Meg is anxious to go too (she's seen the exhibit at the Contemp, but not the one at the Fine), so maybe we can find a weekend in the next few weeks? :D
HUGS and love to Joe!

I soooooo wanted to be Wonder Woman. Actually, being Lynda Carter would have been enough for me but being able to just turn around in place and change outfits? That totally appealed to me. Especially if I could have looked like she did in those skimpy duds. ;)
Patricia Cornwell...Blow Fly
I used to compulsively read every Cornwell novel but somewhere along the way it seemed as if she spent too much energy dumping on Kay (how can I torture her or make her life even more angsty in this novel?) and it just sort of lost me.
slow drivers among other things...I have many
Oh man! I have a positive talent for finding the slowest, most unsure driver and getting trapped behind him. I find myself chanting, "The Go Pedal! It's the thing on the right!" Er, patience has NEVER been my virtue.
artistic
Now that is strange because that's one of the last words I associate with myself. It's something I keenly feel the lack of.

to be a veterinarian
I think I'm sensing a theme here...
first degree black belt in kenpo karate
Cool! How is kenpo karate different from plain old karate? (I'm ignorant on these matters.)
no subject
Well, it was either a veterinarian or an archaeologist. I am still an obsessed Harrison Ford/Indiana Jones fan!
No problem! Here's a brief description of Kenpo:
Kenpo Karate is a modern martial art—it focuses on today’s street fighting. Unlike Tae Kwon Do, which applies traditional techniques from past centuries, Kenpo teaches self-defense against clubs, knives, and guns. It is considered the first American martial art, founded in the 1950s by Senior Grandmaster Edmund Parker in Hawaii.

Yes. I don't like to cook any more, though. I learned how to cook the hard way--by making lots of mistakes. I'm relatively good at it now. I like making things from scratch and I've been known to cook some really good stuff. Before I was a vegetarian, I cooked holiday meals and did the whole thing. I can bake bread from scratch and even make pasta and sauces and pretty much anything.
I got sick of cooking, though. If I had my choice, everyone would eat cold cereal for every meal. *g*
I wanted to be a singer, which sucks because I suck at singing. The only other thing I wanted to do was be a writer.
I also wanted to have a million kids and run a home for wayward boys. My friend wanted to be a marine biologist, so our dream was to have a big old farmhouse with a saltwater pool so that she could train her dolphins and I could have room for all the wayward boys.
(It's the time period. When I was growing up, nearly all my friends wanted to be social workers! *g* Seriously. And I read books like The Cross & the Switchblade, The Family Nobody Wanted, a book about a family called the DeBolts who adopted a zillion special needs children, and, of course, Little Women and Jo's Boys... My farm idea seemed perfectly reasonable when I was 10. *g*)
When I got older, I wanted to be Mother Earth/Ma Ingalls (even though I did not like the TV show Little House on the Prairie). I wanted to live out in the wild or at least on a big farm somewhere, and have lots of kids (at least four, probably six or more) and have this huge iron pot hanging over the fireplace where I'd make stew. I'd bake bread and...
Well, you get the idea. I wanted to leave civilization behind and live in a cabin in the woods with no electricity or other amenities. Or if there were an opportunity to go start a community on another planet, I planned to do that--with my family, of course.
In some ways, I actually got to do this, though not exactly, of course. *g* I did used to cook everything from scratch and bake and sew and spend time with my kids. We also camped for about a month on the way to Alaska, and that was an *awesome* experience. It felt like being pioneers except we could stop at stores, though in some parts of Canada, they were few and far between. *g* It's by far my favorite time with my family, though I love that we have always been and still are a very close-knit family that actually spends time together. I'd rather hang out with my husband and kids than anyone.
And I just remembered I had this post about that trip. I suck at trying to make it interesting, though. *g* Don't feel like you have to go read, but just in case, it's there. *g*
I wish I were a better writer, but, while I am not a people person and have no desire to be, I wish I had that ability to make other people feel good that some people I know have. So many times I try to reach out to people and end up doing or saying the wrong thing or even offending them when I really just meant to be nice or make conversation to let them know, "Hey, someone's listening..." *g*
Place? Huh. I love my office at home. It's my own room. People can visit me in here, but it's all mine. I have it exactly the way I want it.
Besides that, I love my house. I love it. It's not my dream house, and I'd leave it for a better house and/or I'd like to renovate this one if we decide to stay here, but...I feel so lucky to be here, and I'm totally comfortable here. Every day I come downstairs and think, "I am so lucky to be here."
Green beans and/or butternut squash.

And finished? *g* Since the advent of the internet and especially fanfiction, I don't read as many books as I used to (I never went anywhere without a book and still don't, usually) and I usually read more for information than anything else. I read a lot of articles about things I'm interested in besides reading books.
I think the last book I finished was The iPod and iTunes PocketGuide by Christopher Breen. I could be wrong about that, though.
I'm currently reading about eight other other books, though. Three of them are diet books, three are books about writing, one is another iPod book, and another is a book about health/digestive problems.

No. I let my ears close up. Besides ear piercings, though, I think they are all really, really, really disgusting. When I see those nose piercings, all I can think about is what if they sneeze or get a cold and have icky boogers and they'll get all over the nose ring. Mouth piercings strike me in a similar way--food in it, infection, vomiting with gross vomit all over it...
Heh. Yeah, I know. I'm phobic about germs and icky stuff and piercings are just to icky for me.
About tattoos I think Slater, on Saved by the Bell, summed it up best by calling them, "hideous disfiguring marks." LOL
LOL I have no clue. Licking my plate if it's something good? I'd never do it if anyone was around, though. *g*
No.
Sport? Meh... Well, I do like watching ice skating, but I havne't watched even that in many years. I mostly only watched it if it was the Olympics, and I haven't been able to stand the coverage in the last few Olympics when they started making it so Rah! Rah! U.S.-centric. To me the point of the Olympics was to learn about other cultures. I loved it when they'd do a profile on some athlete from a tiny country and who had no chance to win, really...
Negative, definitely.
Get claustrophic? Wonder if you were going to rob me or hurt me in some way? *g*
Me personally? It was when I broke my hand. That was by far the most horrible time in my life.
I always drink out of straws. Well, almost always. I buy straws and have them in a special glass container for straws like from an old-fashioned soda fountain. Unless I'm drinking a hot drink, I use a straw, usually.
I have one kitty named Georgie (George Washington).
No. I never learned that. That was long after my time. We did the Hully Gully.

I hate clowns. I'm not terrified of them, but I have never liked clowns or circus images.
I'd make my hair grow back. :-( My hair is falling out. Soon I'll be bald.
Probably conscience. heh I don't know. I guess it would depend.

I don't drink beer or any alcoholic beverages of any kind ever. *g* No, really. I never developed a taste for it. Beer is so disgusting and wine tastes like drinking vinegar straight to me. Champagne is gross. Whiskey... Gross. Vodka? Gross.
It's not like I didn't try when I was younger, but by the time I was 21 or so, I'd given up. (The drinking age was 18 when I was young, which is not to say that I didn't try out certain forms of alcohol before the age of 18. *g*)
I also have an extreme phobia not only of my puking, but that anyone might puke. I literally start shaking in fear at the thought of being around people who are drinking because I think they might get sick. It depends on the situation, though. New Year's Eve party? I'm not going. Any gathering of a large group of people I don't know involving a holiday on which people traditionally get drunk? No. *g* OTOH, we serve beer and wine at my house when we have gatherings and at that sort of thing at someone's house, I'm not bothered by it, as long as it's not the type of people who are going to get riproaring drunk and puke. hehe If someone came to my house and got drunk, that'd be the last time that person would be invited even if he or she didn't puke. *g*
Huh. That's not enough. lol I mean, really. It would be counted as income and that's that much less financial aid my kids would get for college. I'd love to get new cars for my kids if only so we wouldn't have to worry about fixing our junky cars all the time, but $10K isn't enough for that either. (I'd love to do that, though, because broken cars causes so much stress for my husband.)
So...I don't know. lol
Unless someone gifted us with enough money so that we didn't ever have to work or worry about money again, any amount of money seems more like a liability to me than a help. I'm sure my husband would disagree with that, but I just find the whole thing so worrisome. *g*
If I could just spend it on junk for myself (not counting charity or taking care of family or something like that), I could easily spend $10,000 in iTunes, I'm sure. hehe
I don't chew gum. Last I checked, most gum is not vegetarian and since I'm vegetarian, I gave it up a long time ago.
Bar? LOL I don't go to bars. I've only been in a bar maybe twice in my life. I went to one with my husband and his friends after we were married one time. Recently, I went to one with the homeschool teen group. LOL Yeah, really! We were at a nearby beach and they served lunch there and the kids got to play a game of pool. People were allowed to smoke, though, and I didn't like that. I'd probably never go again.
No
I love to read LiveJournal. *g* I don't know.
Hmmm... I like to work with computer graphics, though I'm not good at it. I sometimes miss those aspects of homeschooling. I'd spend more time creating beautiful worksheets for the kids than they spent doing them. hehe
No, but I do swear sometimes. hehe I grew up in New England. I think it would be inevitable.
Inconsiderate people.
??? I can't. lol
One word? I suck at this sort of thing. I'd be hard-pressed to write a description even if I could use 10,000 words.
Eh, I already answered here so...repost if you want but I hate these sorts of peer-pressure things.
LOL Me too! There's one going around that says you *must* post this in your journal and I always think, "No, I won't!" hehe OTOH, this one was fun. We'll see. hehe

I meant too icky. *g*
