Vote today!

Good morning, Texans. Today is the run-off election from the primaries. If you didn't vote in the primaries (shame on you!), you can still vote in one party's run-off. If you voted in the primaries, you can vote in the same party's run-offs.

I'm glad the Democrats are working to oust our erstwhile "Repug in Democrat clothing" state rep. But really? Daily calls only make me cranky.

Note that if you did or plan to sign a petition for an independent candidate for governor, you cannot vote or have voted in a primary.

This is why I didn't vote in the primary.

OK, this is a legit reason for not voting in the primary and the run-offs. I was too hasty in shaming. I used to think that Gov. Kinky** had a nice ring to it until I read more about his positions. Gov. Strayhorn has never appealed to me.

Are there any other candidates? I'm woefully ignorant on 3rd party/Independent candidates since I've not heard one who better matches my criteria than the wishy-washy Democrats.

**Yeah, I know. He'd be Gov. Friedman but you know we'd all get a thrill out of calling him Gov. Kinky.

I'm not actually planning to vote for Kinky, mind you, but having him in the race amuses me, and sows chaos. Chaos seems more likely to be an ally to the challengers than to the incumbent/establishment. There will be a run-off in any case.

You plan to participate in the election. That's ahead of so many others. I hope Perry, Kinky, and Strayhorn fracture the Repug votes, leaving Bell the clear winner. (Don't we have a Libertarian running?)

Alas, I think that's a pipe dream and we'll have a vote-off, I mean run-off. Who knows how it'll settle out. *sigh* *crosses fingers*

I don't mind that non-voters get the government they deserve. I mind that I'm stuck with it, too.
