Poll Time!
I hadn't announced it since I didn't know if I'd actually use it but I have a graphics journal,
isapiens. As a reader/graphics junkie, I like graphics journals and so I'm thinking to move the graphics there. If I do, I'm undecided on continuing to announce them here in my own personal LJ, which means ticky boxes. :)

I only want to post in one place, really. If you saw my mysterious ability to post a comm post into my own LJ before I caught it and deleted (hey, the preview was in the comm style), then it's obvious that posting in two spots is beyond me. At least, it is before coffee in the morning. OTOH, I find it annoying to play hopscotch across LJ trying to follow some people I like as they have a personal LJ, a graphics LJ, a fic LJ, an LJ about their dog, a comm where they hold forth with recs for other people's fic, and so on.
Maybe the answer is to just close the graphics comm? I thought for a long time that you were the only unfortunate looking at it since I didn't pimp it but it looks as if two other people found it when I was looking and I know how nice it is, especially when my interests only tangentially overlap with a good graphics person, to be able to just look at the pretties without getting involved in her daily life. Thus, the indecision.

I've given up on friend-of-friend almost completely because of the crossposting of fic. I get 4-5 posts of the same fic and it makes friend-of-friend unskimmable.

I haven't helped you with that whole friend-of-friend thing, have I? I tolerate a high repeat rate because I've sorted everything on filters specifically to minimize that. I have a "daily read" filter, an "icon" filter, a "Stargate" filter, a "Real Life Friends" filter, a "Queer as Folk" filter, and on and on. It would be nice if they'd let you exclude comms from friend-of-friend.

Yay for new iconses! Yes, you definitely work on some new ones tonight. *nods*
I have kind of figured that anyone who really didn't want to read the hum-drum everyday stuff but wanted to see my icons could track posts in my LJ tagged "icons." That's what I do instead of friending for a small group of people whose work I adore but whose interests rarely intersect with mine. I don't know, though, that everyone knows it's an option or even if that's a "paid accounts only" feature.
I'm waaaaay too lazy. Posting it here, pimping it over hill and dale, and then remembering to add the entry to my own graphics journal proves more work than I want to put into it. There are also some limitations on posting in a comm - stickies, dating out-of-order, and so on -- that I avoid here in my personal LJ. Decisions, decisions...

It's just... I don't like having too many comms on my f-list, I'm weird like that. I love livejournal for the people and even tho I love and adore some comms, I definitely prefer personal journals as an "every day" lj thing.
I do understand the need of an icon comm, tho (I pondered that same need many, many times, but I rarely post anyway, so hopefully people who check out my journal just for the icons don't get too annoyed with the occasional non-icon posts... also, I always cross post to the specific-for-the-fandom icon community) and if you'd started to post your icons only on your icon comm, I'd definitely defriend one of the communities I have friended (I don't read half of them anyway) to friend you. :-)

I don't find your non-icon posts boring and, truthfully, I *like* getting to know the people behind the art. Sometimes, though, someone's life is so different from mine and their fandoms aren't mine so all of the squee and happiness is lost on me. That's when I'm grateful for the icon LJ. Also? I have no idea how you do it for your 93024789258125061278545 f-list members but I can barely keep track of those wonderful people whose lives are currently on my f-list. I'm often reluctant to add more and a graphics LJ allows us to sort ourselves better as to why we're on each other's f-list.

I like this idea if you decide to keep the graphics journal.

I think it's a wonderful idea. :-)

Ah, I totally understand that and to be honest, when people have such different interests/fandoms/passions I kinda skip their posts... ;))
Also, not all my 435983645276902 friends write at the same time (thankfully) so it's really not that difficult to keep up with things...:-)
Abut icon journals...I love the resource ones (brushes, and stuff), but I keep the other icon-journals on my f-list mostly because I cross-post on them (when I do my icon posts)...I rarely check out other people icons (unless they're friends' posts), I guess I'm afraid to "pick up" too much from other people...cropping, fonts, styles...
It can be very inspiring sometimes, especially when I'm having one of my icon-funk times...but it can also be dangerous because I'm afraid I'd get too inspired, you know what I mean? :-)

I have a lot of icon communities friended for announcement purposes, too, but I use filters to keep them off of my f-list. When I'm stuck or in a rut or completely out of ideas, I do look through them for ideas but I don't look through regularly. I avoid it because I'm not interested in being trendy or derivative. At least, not any more than I already am. :)

Posting in two places is not a good plan for me and not at all what I want. I already cross-post like mad.
Those who responded to the poll -- and I'm assuming that is the portion of my f-list who would have a strong opinion -- are evenly divided so I suppose they're just like me on this issue. :)

If they're anything like ticks, I'll have to rethink my slavish devotion to you. ;)

You have no choice in the slavish devotion business -- just as I do not. We're stuck with each other and

I'm not sure what's best. *g* If your graphics are only in the other journal, I'd friend that also so that I could still see them. I'd probably friend it also anyway, because I'm weird like that. *g*
no subject
Awwww, thank you. :) I have decided no matter what, I'll still be mentioning them here because a few people who I don't want to lose would like an announcement here. So there's no need to go adding to the f-list unless that appeals to you. What I might stop doing, though, is posting the teasers in this LJ. As I'll discuss with you up there in another comment. *points*
