Hee. I saw Teryl last weekend, and she actually said the line from the icon, so I couldn't resist immortalizing it. ;)

I would be hesitant to give hard-and-fast rules on things like banners. For a few samples, you could look at the different themes we've offered on terylicious.net (http://www.terylicious.net/) and note that the banners across the top vary significantly. For a VERY rough guideline, maybe you could start with "would this look good on a web page viewed at 1024x768?" Long and thin banners are hard to work with, IMO. But if you make the banner too wide, you can severely cramp your webpage design. By all means, feel free to improvise and experiment.

None of the artwork needs to be specifically for terylicious.net, merely Teryl-related. However, if you come up with something brilliant, I hope you won't mind if we ask to use it. :)

I was also bummed that Teryl didn't hit the convention trail this year, which is partly why I made the rather ridiculous trip to see her in a theatre festival in BC last weekend. She was wonderful, and she was thrilled to have a few fangirls in the audience. (Love. Her.)

You made it? Is it snaggable with credit?

You saw her this past weekend? I am so completely jealous. Not only of seeing her, but being in BC.

Thank you for the pointers. If there isn't a standard to work to, then I'll worry more about relative dimensions. I'll see what, if anything, I can come up with. As I said, I haven't done it before and it's a totally different skill set. Fortunately, I have a couple of months to practice. :)

However, if you come up with something brilliant, I hope you won't mind if we ask to use it. :)

First I'd be surprised that I did. Some days I have icon fu; some days I have crud. Second, I'd be a squee girl if y'all wanted to use anything I came up with. Third, I'd be just plain old honored.

Hee! In my book, there's no trip wasted if it results in being in BC. I haven't been to all of it, but the bits I've seen are amongst my favorite places on Earth.

Oh - did you have to fly? I hope it wasn't too awful if you did. It sounded as if the airlines experience hit a new low last week.

(Love. Her.)

Teryl is such a hoot. I was a Janet fan when I first saw her at a con but I walked away as a Teryl fan.

Yep, and of course! It's too amusing not to share. ;)

My trip to BC was ~2300 miles, involving planes, rental cars, ferries, and nearly 40 hours of travel just to be there for a weekend. Worth every second. Vancouver Island is amazing, and Teryl was seriously fabulous. It was the second trip I've made to BC this year, after doing the Stargate set tour stuff back in March. I seriously need to find a reason to move there.

.... and I just looked at your user info. Didn't we meet in Dallas last year? (I'm Katie @ savejanetfraiser.com.)

Yay! Thank you for the icon. :) I'm still smiling over it.

Oh wow. That is something of an insane trip and you must have been exhausted. I'm with you on the finding a reason to move there. I make a point of mentioning it frequently to soften the s.o. because by hook or by crook, I'm planning to live there some day.

I don't know when you'll next get there, but if you haven't yet discovered it, I cannot recommend highly enough the ferry to/from Sidney, B.C. and Anacortes, Wash. We lucked into it the first time we visited. For the price of driving back, a ferry takes you and your car on a 3 hour sailing tour through the gorgeous San Juan islands. I know that wouldn't work in a quick trip like the one you just took but if you have some leisure, it's beyond lovely. I hadn't counted on the water portion of our NW circuit being as stunning as it was.

Yes, we did! I just looked at your user info and realized I'm talking to RocketChick, whose Gatecon 2004 photography I seriously envied. In fact, it was seeing your pictures and comparing them to my cruddy Point N Shoot ones from Gatecon 2004 that inspired me to look into photography. This is now the second time I've accidentally "met" you. I think we're doomed fated. ;-)
