F-list madness

[livejournal.com profile] betacandy brought to my attention that my posts were not appearing on her flist. I just took a moment today to spot check a couple of people I hadn't heard from in a while. I notice that [livejournal.com profile] superbadgirl isn't on my flist page any more. I've got a loooong f-list to check to see who else, if anyone, is missing. :(

Has anyone else had similar problems?

ETA: I'm also getting weird delays in notices of comments (made by others and by me). So, if I haven't responded, it's probably because I haven't yet gotten the e-mail notice yet.

It's been happening to me for a while, but I haven't noticed it lately. Usually I only notice when people reference a past post and I go, "Wait! Haven't seen that!"

It's frustrates me! I added people to the ole' f-list because I want to read their LJs, darn it. I guess I can't assume that my normal chatty friends who keep me company are just busy for a bit.

I still see you. Hi! *waves*

*waves back* Yay! I'm not too worried about others missing my LJ. Frankly, there's not much content in it. But I lovingly added each and every friend on my f-list for a *reason* and I definitely want to read their thinky thoughts. Even if, yanno, I don't have enough time to give each the attention it deserves every day.

(And I just checked you. You're apparently still showing up on my list properly.)

[identity profile] betacandy.livejournal.com 2006-10-11 08:12 pm (UTC)(link)
Also worth noting: while the MAD solution worked for you and me, it didn't get [Unknown site tag] back on my flist. I've emailed LJ a follow-up explaining that, so we'll just have to see.

I don't think they can rationally expect people with hundreds of friends to do that MAD thing though. That would be seriously confusing.

I shudder at the thought of trying to accomplish that with my f-list of (peeks at profile) 131. Wow. I've friended a ton of people.

And hey, look at that -- I have a new friend who snuck onto my f-list! Damnit, I'm not getting my memos!

It seems to be having some problems, all right. Grrrr...

I don't think that LJ has to do any sorting for your f-list. I think it just lists everyone on LJ. ;-) I have no earthly clue how you keep up with all the posts that you do. *iz amazed*

Did you get my comment yesterday about Saturday? ;)

No. I hope Saturday is still good for you. :( I have it on my big mental To Do List to e-mail you and get directions. I'm looking forward to it but if your plans have changed, let's find another weekend. I wanna see your art!

lol my comment was basically, "hey you, email for directions to my house, yo!" LOL

Yay! *whew* I've sent the e-mail. I have your e-mail saved in my Mozilla, btw. You're never escaping me.** I can hardly wait!

**perhaps not strictly true -- I'm being forced by my cell phone company to buy a new phone which will mean re-entering all of my phone numbers again. There's a very good chance that I'll screw up at least half of them.

What? Where'd I go?

I confess I usually just go skipping along, completely oblivious to this stuff. Shame on me. I have noticed the annoying time issue, as well as discovering that I haven't received peoples' replies to posts/comments. I don't have a huge flist, so I probably should just check it off and on while LJ sorts out these bugs.

At least, I hope they're sorting out bugs!

I know! That was my response. Where the hell did she go? I hadn't seen anything from you in a couple of days and while I knew you were pondering travel, I thought that was at Christmas...so I popped over to your LJ to see if I'd just missed a "going out of town" post and bam! lots of entries. *kicks LJ*

I missed you!

LOL, you can always count on me to blather nonsense on LJ. I presume no one reads it most of the time. ;)

Awww...I read it! I might not have a lot of meaning to add so I don't often comment but I definitely read it. :)

[identity profile] ml-spikie.livejournal.com 2006-10-11 11:16 pm (UTC)(link)
huh. You showed up on my list today. I have my LJ sorted by "people friends," "icon journals," "fanfic," etc. I always read the "people friends" first and if I don't get to the others, I don't worry. You are under "people friends" of course. Since I have a pretty sad little f-list, I usually notice if someone is missing and go check them out to see if I somehow missed a post. Generally, it's just because they haven't had anything to say for a few days. So, yeah, that helps a lot, doesn't it? I guess that what I'm saying is that I haven't had any problems. On the flip side, I know I'm showing up in your journal because of the spamming I got last night! *G* I still have to go answer all those comments, now don't I. *scurries off*

Yeah, my first thought was that somehow my filters had gotten bunged up and some people had been mysteriously deleted. Nope.

Heh -- sorry about the spam. Once I start babbling I just don't shut up. :( I hope you feel no obligation to comment back. Most of what I put there were quotes pasted from web pages.

Strangely, this problem is a one-way thing. [livejournal.com profile] betacandy wasn't seeing my posts, dazzling displays of emptiness that they tend to be, but I was seeing her on my f-list. I wasn't seeing [livejournal.com profile] superbadgirl but she's obviously seeing me. Just plain weird.

I'm not so concerned that I reach others since I haven't anything to say of late but I'm very concerned that I read others' stuff. Such as, looking at your LJ, I see you posted early this morning. I never saw it. :( I did, however, see the post before that. That's just frakked up.

I know! How rude of LJ, no? I tell ya, this new-fangled technology is all fun and games until someone loses a post.

I haven't noticed any, but then again I maintain a fairly short flist.

I only noticed for real because I have one lovely member of my f-list who tends to post several short comments throughout the day. I enjoy them and they make my day go by faster. I'm not good at noticing what isn't there so it took me a few days to notice I hadn't seen any updates from her. I probably wouldn't have noticed even half as quickly if someone more eagle-eyed than I hadn't noticed I was missing from her f-list.

I admit I've friended too many people for what I can legitimately keep up with as I'd like to but I really enjoy the diversity of ideas that travels through my f-list.

[identity profile] ml-spikie.livejournal.com 2006-10-13 12:32 am (UTC)(link)
you have some really cool icons. I adore Calvin and Hobbes. What a pity their creator quit. Also, I love the OH NOS OMG animated one. Is that one shareable?
ext_1645: (Misc -- Onoz! OMG! (anim))

[identity profile] hsapiens.livejournal.com 2006-10-13 02:34 am (UTC)(link)
Thank you. I have spent too much time seeking out icons, I admit. I'm a HUGE fan of Calvin and Hobbes (gods - those icons are hard to find!). The world is a poorer place for Watterson's and Breathed's retirements.

Yes, this icon *points* is VERY adoptable. It's by [livejournal.com profile] mcity / [livejournal.com profile] mcity_icons. Isn't it brilliant? I think we're in very good company. It's so popular that even though the user has stopped using his LJ, the fact that the icon is snaggable is listed on his profile page. :) If you decide to grab it, I hope you get as much pleasure as I have from it. It's a nice, fun one.

(p.s. -- love the icon you used, even if I happen to think Daniel is just as pretty)
