Pimping: Teryl-Centered Contest

[livejournal.com profile] terylicious is hosting the Third Annual Terylicious Contest and is soliciting submissions of art (icons, wallpapers, banners, original works of art, etc.), fanfic, and music videos. Due date for entries is 9 October 2006.

Entries are not limited to SG-1's Doctor Fraiser. Teryl has been in dozens? hundreds? of movies so there's an absolute metric ton of source material to play with. Terylicious also has an extensive collection of gorgeous photos and screen caps.

I'm probably the last Stargate fan on my f-list to know about this but I'm pimping it anyway. Just in case there's anyone out there who, like me, didn't know about it before now. There just can't be enough Teryl love in this world.

Oh, and I forgot to tell you this in my last post to you.... check out the piece Megan and I did the other night- I think it's very cool.

That's my divantart site, btw. Here's more that I uploaded a couple of months ago and then promptly forgot about hehe http://approachableart.deviantart.com/gallery/

We took the clock and a few of the other items we'd recently done to a consignment shop in town.

Painted aluminum -- very pretty! I like that piece a lot. I have no idea how to photograph it, mind you. How reflective is the aluminum after it has been painted?

I'll have to look at the other pieces again at home. I clicked on the mirror and my browser immediately froze. :( This computer has been annoyingly wonky today though I think the real blame lies at the foot of Norton AV.

Yay! I can hardly wait to see what lovely Janet/Teryl things you come up with. I'd say "You're welcome," but I think I did myself a big favor. ;)

Thank you for pimping, apparently this can't be pimped enough :D

This is Mesh, here via [livejournal.com profile] katiedammit, we met at the Dallas con and I like to link to your convention photo galleries from my sites :D (How's that for an introduction?) I've added you to my flist if you don't mind.

And please enter the contest, would love to see your icons/art there, love your SG character icon posts. I wouldn't mind if you entered any or all of your recent Janet ones, I love how you sharpen/brighten/make the characters "shine" in your icons. Excellent job.

Mesh! Welcome! You did not need to remind me who you were. *grin* I may not have known your LJ name - which I love - but you did me a wonderful favor in linking to my Dallas photos. I should get down on my knees and thank you for linking to my pics. I had to buy extra bandwidth because everybody found me after that! That thrilled me.

You're more than welcome.

I will enter what I can. Thank you for the dispensation to enter the existing icons because I do love some of my Teryl and Janet icons but they're flukes. I don't know that I'll be able to come up with anything I like as well.

I wanted to pull out the *.psd file for the icon I used for the contest pimping -- and I have lost it. :| I'm going to search the harddrives tonight because I'm so anal about saving the files; I must have accidentally saved to the wrong folder. *fingers crossed* I am hoping to try my hand at a banner using that source pic as one of the images but I couldn't find my layers to replicate it. I'm currently working to figure out what I did but if I can't I might enter the icon instead and try my hand at a different banner.

Thanks for the compliments on the icons. I'm really just learning. I think it's obvious because I don't have a lot of tricks in my bag yet. Already I'm floundering in the banner department but I figure that I have a long time to find tutorials and examples and practice. :)

I spent some time last night going through some of the pics on terylicious.net rather than sleeping and I'm excited by the variety. Whether or not I end up with anything worth entering, I'm excited to have new pictures of Teryl to play with.

p.s. Of course I'm happy to be friended by you; I've reciprocated already. :)

Oi... That's a first that I get thanks for that, and I'm not various cuss words *G

We did ask for new icons, but I think posts from August count as new, so feel free to enter those. Yeah... all four from row #1 can enter from this (http://hsapiens.livejournal.com/33417.html) post. :D

Please feel free to enter multiple versions as well, lots of folks enjoy seeing color, size variations.

You've just started with the icons?! WOW. Even more impressive then.

Please enter whatever you do, I've found that even if the person creating the piece doesn't neccessarily like their own work, others might find it perfect :D Plus I really want to see what you can come up with, enjoying your work very much. Glad [livejournal.com profile] pax89 knows about the contest, too, now I have one less LJ to stalk for any and all gackable icons :D

And thank you!

I can't speak to those who don't want more visitors but I put my photos online to share with fellow fans. I had modest success in the fora where I posted links but when you linked to me, I reached a lot more fans. I was happy to achieve my goal. :)

Uh oh. You have no idea what you might have opened yourself up to. I have hundreds of gradients and I'm not afriad to use them. ;-) It's a good idea to make several different sizes of banners in the unlikely event someone wants to use one. I'll try to remember to do that.

I might have exaggerated. Judging by my file dates, I was doing my first tutorial in early February. So, I've been working on it about a half year. I figure that's not too bad since prior to that I had no idea what one used layers for...but that's a testimonial to the many excellent tutorials on LJ.

Yes! I'm very excited about that, too. :)

I love people who share con photos :D

Do post multiple versions, esp. of banners, I will probably beg them off you for Abydos.

Well, since Feb is still nothing. Go you!

YAY for more great art stuff for the contest! And more Teryl and Janet stuff in general.

What can i say, :) but since you (mesh) have a huge honking site that gets oddle of traffic, you don't realize how exciting it is for smaller sites like Mish's and mine to get a boost in traffic. :)

Well, I should rephrase that, it's nice to get traffic from a reputable site. There's been a couple times I've been flooded with visitors from questionable sites so I'm assuming that they WEREN'T being polite behind their password protected forum walls. :P
