Fish Show and a Friday Meme
Joe's band, The Flying Fish Sailors, will be playing at the Continental Club's Pajama Party tonight. I don't normally pimp their appearances because I assume those who are interested are already on the
baldheretic feed...but just in case I'm wrong...
If you get to the show early, go next door and check out the wonderful clothing creations by designer Judy Masliyah at Sig's Lagoon. All I can find on the web is a Houston Chronicle article about Masliyah's work. I really want a skeleton print dress. Really, really. The store had one, but in a bizarre twist of fate, the size they had fit my waist/hips but the bodice was too small. As a woman of mostly normal-sized upper body stuck on top of gigantic hips, I was dumb-founded. Joe scored major brownie points for procuring the Masliyah skirt I loved for V-Day this year. I am **almost** looking forward to our hot weather so I can wear it.
First four jobs you have had in your life:
1. Organics Lab Tech
2. Archaeologist
3. Human Osteology Specialist (meaning, still an archaeologist but as a "specialist" able to charge twice as much)
4. Rights and Reproductions Administrator (sounds like a Planned Parenthood thing but it meant, "Copyright/Licensing Overseer for Local Art Museum")
~~**~~
Four movies you would watch over and over:
1. Undercover Blues
2. Blazing Saddles
3. Monty Python's Life of Brian & Search for the Holy Grail (I cheated!)
4. A Fish Called Wanda
I like to laugh.

Four places you have lived:
1. Tallahassee, FL
2. Cambridge, MA
3. Houston, TX
4. Wyoming / Nebraska
For varying values of "lived"
~~**~~
Four TV shows you love to watch:
1. Battlestar Galactica
2. The Daily Show
3. Stargate SG-1
4. Bill Maher (just discovered his HBO show...it's hysterical!)
I enjoy "Queer as Folk" but find that the fan fic is often more fun than the show.
~~**~~
Four places you have vacationed.
1. Vancouver/British Columbia/Seattle
2. Anchorage, AK
3. Santa Fe & N Mex. in general
4. Virginia
We won't be doing the New Mexico trips so often now that Joe's mom sold the ski cabin.

Four websites I visit daily:
1. Livejournal.com -- that's cheating, no? I get feeds from LOTS of diff sites that way
2. My domain's admin center
3. NPR's website
4. I've been prowling various screen cap resources of late to feed my new hobby of creating crappy icons.

Favorite foods:
1. Chocolate cake
2. Fresh black-eyed peas
3. Peanut butter
4. Green Veggies: spinach, brussel sprouts, asparagus, artichokes... (anything but okra)
4.5. Bread -- All types. Flat, leavened, super-healthy, junky white, crusty, chewey, fresh, toasted. Love it all.
Honorary Entries:
1. Coffee with chicory -- Should count as a food in the quantities I drink
2. Sherried cream of wild mushroom soup with black truffle oil as made at the Crow's Nest at the Captain Cook Hotel in Anchorage, AK -- Best. Dish. Ever.
3. Chai -- Infrequent indulgence because it's not a healthy choice but I do love it
Hmmm. Maybe I wouldn't have a weight problem if I could actually limit myself to four? *grin*
~~**~~
Four places I would rather be right now:
1. Vancouver
2. Vancouver
3. Vancouver
4. Vancouver
~~**~~
Four things I always carry with me:
1. Wallet
2. Keys
3. Lip goop
4. Car Stereo Faceplate
Eh, the last one is boring since it's the contents of my purse. That's the only thing I carry "always," unless we're talking about the myriad of tiny fauna we all carry around on and in ourselves...

Apparently a lot of people have been requesting men's shirts which she refuses to do. When I wore the shirt to the CC one time everyone was stopping me asking me how I got Judy to agree to make me one.

I really, really want one of those skeleton dresses. It's only a matter of time. (And weight.)

There are no words the first time one sees Blazing Saddles - one is using one's air to laugh.

We should definitely arrange to watch the movie the next time you're in Houston. We should get together just because it's fun and we should do it more anyway...but the movie is a good excuse to do it. You are welcome to come over here to watch or I can visit you and bring the DVD with if you haven't bought a copy for yourself.
I couldn't agree more about Blazing Saddles. When Mel Brooks is on, he makes the most wonderful movies.
Other comedies I didn't get to mention but I love are all the "classic" comedies: Arsenic and Old Lace (I didn't know Cary Grant did comedy before I saw it), Harvey, The Thin Man, Bringing Up Baby, Topper... Yeah, I love to laugh. A lot.
