From what I heard, having no sense of smell was a definite boon. As I recall, triciabyrne1978 described it as smelling like an uncleaned public restroom.
Mmmmm...I may be a scary rabid type by your definition though I recommend Gatecon if you think you've met the scary rabid fan. Compared to them, I'm sane. Really. I'm trying not to get my hopes up because I know schedules are subject to change but I'm quite happy at the prospect of "meeting" Cliff Simon. I haven't seen him before and fresh blood is always appreciated. Having said that, I'm hoping that they'll get Teryl for this con. I love that woman and she never gets old. :)
I'm assuming that I've mellowed quite a bit seeing as how I met several Jack and Sam fans this last time and...I actually like them! I thought they all had horns, wore wedding dresses with signs proclaiming they were "Bride Sams" looking for Jack, and were otherwise weird. Who knew they were wonderful, intelligent, and had good taste outside of that tiny little pairing lapse. ;-)
Last year's NJ con was excellent even though a couple of the freaks showed up again. Peter Williams spent hours camped out with us on the sofas and talked about all sorts of things. Don let us know when he'd be having breakfast so we could all go and celebrate his birthday. Yeah, I still want to gawk at MS but I find the greatest pleasure comes from the more quiet moments.
