Need Help: Photoshop CS4 Animation
I can't make animation work in the newer Photoshop -- how do I use an animated source file to make an animated icon?
I have a *.gif file that I want to open, mess around with, and then save as an animation. When I open it with PS CS4, though, it sees only one frame in the animation task bar. I'm sure I'm missing something really obvious.
I'm missing Image Ready. :(

I just tried this, which works with CS4 32-bit, but not 64-bit, IDEK.
File --> Import --> Video Frames to Layers. For some reason, you have to have QuickTime installed for this to work. It doesn't show .gif files, but if you put in "*.gif" supposedly a list of gif files appears. This didn't work for me, but when I typed in the file name including .gif it opened okay. Hope that helps!

OK. So I need to see if I installed 32-bit (I think I did but it's all hazy) and play with it this way. Why in the world would they take something that works and disable it? I'm adding this to the "Do Not Want" Pile along with changing "R" from Smooth to Rotate (no new command for the Smooth/Blur Tool) and removing the Alt+# as a way to navigate Selective Color components. Three steps forward and four steps back, Adobe.
Thank for the info. I'll see if I can make it work. :D Hmmm, I wonder if I can have both 32 and 64 bit versions open at the same time or if they'll both want to use the same set of resources?

Thank you! :D

One would think - which never manages to predict real world behaviors. That is quite odd but whatever. I'm playing with it and remembering why I don't "do" animation. We hates it, we do.
