Comments are treasured. Credit is nice but I don't really care; just don't be a dork and claim you made them, please. I keep my icons in my LJ Scrapbook if you want to browse by character/show.

One final icon, though it is not shareable:
Made for [livejournal.com profile] jalabert's brilliant SGA AU slash story, My Fair Liar.
It has a movie poster, too, which was original artwork done by [livejournal.com profile] deani_bean.

Yay! I am very happy to see that Teyla icon go to a good home. :) Most of the icons I make are pretty pictures but that one has a lot of symbolism. I've had a hard time finding "character" moments for SGA (well, outside of Rodney) but I love that scene where John bests her after she's been losing sleep to nightmares. She's down but the look of strength and defiance on her face...I love it! I tried to echo her state by the ragged edge on the icon but leaving the majority of it there to signify her strength...Oops. That's probably way more info than you wanted. I just love that icon for its character moment and I'm glad someone who loves Teyla found it worthy.

Icons are only as good as their sources and I've snagged them from various generous souls:
- The SGA caps come mainly from [livejournal.com profile] dbw, who has the most stunning, clear screencaps I've seen. You can check out her caps here.
- For SG-1, I'm especially fond of Dedicated to Stargate for the sheer quantity of caps. Because she has so many, it's easy to find some unusual angles that you don't normally see in screen cap collections. I raid from a lot of different sources, actually, and they're all listed in my resources. The caps are listed at the end. If you want more info, don't hesitate to let me know.
- And, of course, I couldn't list caps resources without a plug for the ultra high resolution promo pics at the SGC - Picture archive.

No! It's fine. :) I like hearing about why people chose particular shots or particular phrases - it's interesting to get the background. Like hearing about why someone wrote a story with this line or that angle.

That is a great scene: down but not beaten, and she accepts John's help to get up again - asks for it, actually, by holding out her hand - so not too proud to climb back to her feet with the help of a friend. *loves Teyla*

Thank you for the link to the screencaps. *will try her hand at severely amateur icons and manips*

I love it when little moments speaks volumes about a character. *happy sigh*

Best of luck on playing with images. I've had a lot of fun -- and a lot of frustration. Many people were helpful to me and patiently answered my questions. [livejournal.com profile] deani_bean was kind enough to walk me through the process of animating an icon over IM.

If you have any questions or if I can be of any assistance, please don't hesitate to ask. If you want to know how I did anything or whose icons I think are brilliant or who writes good tutorials or anything...feel free to ask. I'm happy to pass on anything I've learned from others. Also, I'd love to hear about anything cool you discover. I'm still on the steep part of the learning curve and I'm always looking for a cool trick or tip.
