Oh boy, favorite pairings. How long have you got? I tend to prefer gen onscreen** and pairings in my fic.

I'm a dyed-in-the-wool slasher so I must give my obligatory nod to Jack/Daniel. They were my OTP for a long time but I've branched out in the last year so pairing matters less than it used to. I'll read almost any slash if it's well-written. Het pairings I like tend to feature Daniel (no, I'm not obsessed much) but include virtually all BUT Jack and Sam. Sadly, forcing it onscreen in awkward ways that I think undermined Sam's strength killed any love I could have had for the pairing. I loved the tension between attraction and respect for a fellow officer I saw in Solitudes and enjoyed it even as late as Into The Fire but by the time it became a knock-off of "the love that dared not speak its name," in Divide and Conquer I never wanted to see it again.

As for SGA, I admit to being far more a fan of the fic than the show. I tend to limit my involvement to reading [livejournal.com profile] jalabert and looking at all the gorgeous icons that the fandom produces. Thus, I have an overdeveloped love of Aiden. Any pairing featuring him is likely to make me happy.

As for other fandoms, I'm a long time fan of Fitzwilliam Darcy/Elizabeth Bennet (shockers!) in P&P and of Brian/Justin in my newest, shiniest fandom of QaF. Those are most definitely onscreen romances, though, and there's nothing "gen" about those stories.

As for the [livejournal.com profile] msscribe kerfuffle, it isn't even in the SG-1 fandom! It's so huge that it transcends fandoms. It's an amazing tale of a fan who created sock puppets to both support and attack herself. She played along pairing OTP fault lines in the fandom and used racial and religious intolerance to make herself a Big Name Fan in the Harry Potter fandom. It's fascinating reading, but you need a HUGE chunk of time because it's 10 long parts of fact, deductive reasoning, and more thorough documentation than I've seen in criminal trials. I listed it as [livejournal.com profile] msscribe because that's the LJ name she used at the time of her antics; she has since gone through a series of LJ names trying to escape her infamy.

** I say I want gen onscreen but honesty forces me to say that I don't mind some romance onscreen if I think it adds to the character or the storyline. Thus, I did enjoy Sam/Martouf, Daniel/Sha'uri, Jack/Sarah, and Teal'c/Drey'ac.
