by sidh_randomness Calvin & Hobbes is tied with Farside for my all-time favorite comic. I looked for C&H icons for a long time but it's the very rare, talented icon-maker who can capture C&H within the 40 KB limit of an icon. There aren't a lot of C&H icons and darn few of those are really *good.* This is one of those -- and it still makes me smile every time I see it. :)
by cala_jane Man, I wish she'd make more SG-1 icons, although I suppose it's just as well she doesn't because I probably never would have taken up icon-making and then what would I do in my spare time? Another icon that made me smile when I first saw it. It's just kind of wacky and lovely nod to one of my all-time favorite episodes. I saw SG-1 unspoiled up through S7 and I was so shocked that the Asgard were the Roswell Grays! ;) Just...perfection.
by me! John Barrowman is another of those really pretty men but he comes with a huge advantage: he's a shameless showman who enjoys playing the game. He'll pose for pictures, send autographed pics if you ask, he works constantly, he has this amazing charisma, he has a powerful singing voice, he speaks his mind without fear, he's risque, he's totally cool about stripping down in front of the camera, he got married in a kilt, he's drop-dead classic gorgeous...and he likes dogs.
So, this icon is one I made as part of a challenge. The pic was kind of formally staged so there wasn't a lot to do color/light wise that I thought was interesting. I was playing with background to spice it up. I have no idea why it popped into my head to try animating the background because I generally suck at animation and thus avoid it. :)
I think it worked on this icon, even though it's a bit intense, and it fits because John Barrowman IS mesmerizing.
