Making Vacation Plans for the Year
- Alaska. Maybe July/August but I'd really prefer to go after school is back in session in early September. That's what we did last time and it was like having the whole state to ourselves. I'm already dreaming of the Cream of Wild Mushroom Soup with Black Truffle Oil that we had last time at the Crow's Nest at the Captain Cook Hotel. Seriously - the best meal I ever ate in my life. Hope they still have the same chef. I desperately want to tack on a stop over, even if it's a couple of days, in Vancouver because I just hate to go 2 years without seeing British Columbia.
- New Jersey, Western. Mid-September for a friend's wedding. Thankfully, the man has the excellent sense to live in charming western NJ.
- New Jersey, Eastern. November. Supreme irony of my life that I'll be venturing into New Jersey twice in one year. I may not make it to B.C. but I'll be in NJ twice?!? Obviously the only reason I'm venturing into eastern NJ now that
immlass and
mcroft have moved is because pretty, pretty men will be at the Stargate Convention. I already have tickets and they're front row center. So...no way I'm missing that one. I may not be sticking around for the week afterwards, though, as I have in the past -- which really stinks because a 2 day visit to the Met has become a yearly pleasure and I was hoping to make it to the Brooklyn Museum's Egyptian Collection.

Weather canceled two of our most anticipated AK activities - glacier hiking and touring Prince William Sound - last time. I know he's been chomping at the bit to do those and he has been very patient while we did stuff I wanted to do (Vancouver, Egyptian exhibit in Victoria, Gatecon). By all rights, we should have gone back to Alaska last year but that got sidelined by my grandmother's deteriorating health and death.
I think 2007 is more likely for the U.K. I'd hoped for a stronger dollar so we could do more but I'd like to get there before you get your PhD.

I'd love to win the lottery. That presupposes I remember to play the lottery and, alas, that's a false supposition.
