Day 01 - A show that should never have been canceled: Firefly
Day 02 - A show that you wish more people were watching: In Plain Sight
Day 03 - Your favorite new show (aired this TV season):
I'm kind of torn here. I sort of watch 3 new shows: White Collar, Royal Pains, and The Vampire Diaries. By "sort of watch," I mean I might remember to watch. Sometimes, I might not remember to watch until half way through the show. They each have strong points and weak points.

White Collar has a stunning cast but the writers aren't quite as clever as the show really demands; the plot too often revolves around people being too gullible or unobservant to notice obvious shenanigans. This style of show requires some fairly crisp, tight writing; Neil Caffrey needs to succeed through guile & charm rather than luck. I have hopes they'll fix their writing deficiencies for the next season so that the show is worthy of the actors.

Royal Pains surprised me by sucking me in. I sort of hate the premise of centering a show on the excesses of the excessively monied (concierge doctor to those who can't be distrubed to go to an appointment). But the writing is good, the actors are good, and they do make a nod every once in a while to the idea that people without money work/live in the Hamptons, too. While it's set amongst the monied class, it isn't about the monied class. I like the 3 main characters and the supporting cast, too. OTOH, it is a bit formulaic but I suppose that make it good summer fare.

The Vampire Diaries: I've seen the last half of nearly every episode because it came on before Supernatural and because it involves the very pretty Ian Somerhalder. It was really slow to become interesting. Really, really slow. If not for the SPN placement, I'd never have gotten past the third episode. Then all of a sudden Ian's character Damon starting showing some depth and lo and behold, the prey townsfolk turned out to know more about the predators amongst them and the rash of "wild animal attacks" than is typical for genre television. It has potential, even if it can't decide if it's going to be a high school soap opera (*yawn*) or if it's going to be a more adult exploration of life. I have to admit my main pleasure is in watching Damon and wondering what he's up to in nearly every scene. His character is, by far, the most conflicted and interesting.

Each has at least some promise but none of them fills me with unmitigated glee. Speaking of which, I think that if I had watched any of Glee, that it would have been my choice judging by the buzz.
